She’s all I’ve got left to dance with,
Just a ghost of my memory’s sigh.
We stroll like Christ on the water
As I watch the sky through her eyes.
You were once so solid, so near,
With the heat of love on your breath.
I can still feel your skin upon mine,
The kisses that kept me from death.
I’m dancin’ with moonlight, dancin’ with moonlight.
While your sun sets below my sight.
My empty hands hold her cold, clear heart,
While mine has lost all of its light.
Now you’re like her, a sweet, cool breeze,
As see-through as my mistress moonlight.
You woke my soul and stung my eyes
As you swept on into the night.
All I’ve got left is dancin’ with moonlight,
An illusion of a love once true.
She has no substance to speak of,
But her kisses remind me of you.
